A. Key Documents
1. Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCROC or CRC. The UN promulgated the Convention in 1989 and New Zealand signed in 1993. A brief summary is available in two formats, select Children and Youth.
2. Optional Protocol child soldiers - Ratified
3. Optional Protocol on Sale of Children - signed but not ratified
4. International Labour Organisation (ILO)

B. UN Convention Cycle
Current Reporting Cycle
The Government issued its 3rd and 4th Periodic report in November 2008. ACYA awaits the CRC Committee decision when it will meet with the government. It coulds be 2009 but more likely 2010. The alternative report is due some six months prior to that meeting.
